Cellular operator in Tamil Nadu, India. Drafted initial marketing plan with emphasis on maintaining price by enlarging service offering and customer care. Also suggested and implemented brand strategy focusing on quality of service and coverage. Enabled client to become the dominant operator in Tamil Nadu.
PERSONAL

Client was the leading newspaper group in Paraguay and minority partner in Nucleo, the second mobile operator in the country that operated under the brand name, Personal. Analysed business plan and implemented changes in marketing, emphasizing pre-paid sales and brand building. Also suggested and implemented changes in JV agreement with Telecom Argentina to help protect client’s minority interest.
NISSHO IWAI CORP.

One of Japan’s largest trading groups interested in assessing telecom markets throughout Asia with a view towards providing vendor financing for both fixed and mobile networks. Provided weekly market intelligence reports for India, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia. Assisted client in negotiations with regional network vendors like Huawei and ZTE to provide financing to operators for building networks in Asia.
CHAROEN POKPHAND GROUP

Acted as internal consultant/interim manager to lead effort to procure a new mobile licence in Indonesia. Formed team and made presentations to Minister and staff on general benefit of new operator to Indonesia’s cellular market. Initial rebuff met with renewed vigour and formulation of White Paper to Indonesian government on spectrum allocation and use. White Paper led to government announcing tender for new operator. Assisted government in writing tender document based on points system. Compiled and submitted 1,500 page bid document which won maximum points and the licence with 3G and GSM frequency.

Client needed help in rationalising telecom spectrum and formulating new spectrum policy. Led hand-picked team from DGPT and wrote White Paper on reallocation of spectrum based on 2G and 3G needs and recommended total overhaul of spectrum management and allocation.
